Healthier Together Pierce and St. Croix Counties is Ready for Action

Healthier Together – Pierce & St. Croix Counties (Healthier Together) is a community coalition working to create and maintain healthy communities and provide a strategic framework for local health improvement activities.

For more than a year, the four hospitals and two public health departments that lead Healthier Together have been working with the community to assess community health needs and develop a collaborative community health improvement plan for 2017-2019.

The process began with the convening of 65 stakeholders from across the two-county region. After reviewing recent health and demographic data and input from community members, the stakeholders identified three priority health issues: 1) alcohol abuse 2) mental health and 3) overweight/obesity. Additional community input was then solicited through an online survey, focus groups and community dialogues to determine how Healthier Together could most effectively address the three priority areas.

Healthier Together has now developed detailed action plans around each of the three health priorities. There are over 100 community members working together to take action in response to these health issues over the next three years.

The organizations leading the community health needs assessment process include the Pierce County Public Health Department, the St. Croix County Public Health Department, Hudson Hospital & Clinic, River Falls Area Hospital, Western Wisconsin Health and Westfields Hospital & Clinic.
