Western Wisconsin Health Celebrates American Heart Month

Western Wisconsin Health is excited to announce that we are proudly participating in American Heart Month in an effort to prevent heart disease and increase awareness of its effects.

Heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women. Every year, 1 in 4 deaths are caused by heart disease. The good news is that we can work together to help you make healthier choices. Making healthy changes can lower your risk of developing heart disease. Controlling and preventing risk factors are also important for people who already have heart disease.

To lower your risk:

  • Watch your weight.
  • Quit smoking and stay away from secondhand smoke.
  • Control your cholesterol and blood pressure.
  • If you drink alcohol, drink only in moderation.
  • Get active and eat healthy.

During the month of February, we are offering several ways for our employees and the community to get involved.

Discounted CT Calcium Scoring

Western Wisconsin Health is offering discounted Cardiac CT Calcium Scoring during the month of February. This will be a cash pay service of $300. CT Calcium Scoring can help us identify possible coronary artery disease (CAD) before you have signs and symptoms. It can also help reduce your risk of heart attack or other heart problems. To learn more, please visit wwhealth.org, speak with your provider, or call 715-684-1395.

Community Blood Drive

There is an emergency need for blood donations due to a severe winter blood shortage. The American Red Cross will be at Western Wisconsin Health on Friday, February 10 from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm. If you would like to give blood, please call 800-733-2767 or visit www.redcrossblood.org to book your appointment. The blood drive will take place in the patient parking lot of WWH on the American Red Cross bus. Walk-ins are welcome.
